| Cyclamen Cyclamen is a small but diverse genus of plants. Cyclamen persicum is often available throughout the fall and winter, in less hardy zones, as a houseplant. They come in a wide range of vibrant colors, white, pink, red and lavender and will brighten up any room. Cyclamen prefer bright indirect light like an east window and cool temperatures. To keep plants flourishing during dry winter months, fill a large plate or shallow pan with water and place the cyclamen on an inverted dish, just above the water. Feed twice a month with a liquid fertilizer for blooming plants and enjoy it all winter long. | ||

Pansies Pansies are a cool weather annual that provide excellent fall color. Best planted after a hot summer, pansies will thrive in the cool fall temperatures and come in a rainbow of colors. Many pansies will survive long after the rest of your annuals deteriorate from cool weather and early frosts. These lightly scented flowers grow six to ten inches high and can spread up to ten to twelve inches across. Hardy Mum (Chrysanthemum) The mum is the perfect addition of fall color to any landscape. Hardy garden mums are perennial in most climate zones and will bloom for 6 to 7 weeks from early August until a hard frost in northern climates. The cushion mum is the most popular in most markets and comes in a wide range of colors. Mums are also excellent use in cut flower arrangements holding their bloom for a couple of weeks in cool to moderate temperatures indoors.
